Churt Satellites started their games many years ago, against Beacon Hill, and they have played each other so many times since then, it was only fitting that the last game of the season and possibly for both teams, would be against each other.
Both teams have had a a hard season with injuries and low numbers, and today was no different, both teams having 12 (Churt) and beacon Hill (13) players.
Two Churt players, Tallulah Musgrave and Emily Watts were fitness doubts, but managed to start the game to give the Churt defence a stronger look than most of the season (along with Alex Hayward and Amy O'Donnell).
Churt started well and scored in the 2nd minute with a great pass from Phoebe and Liv Potter to Ella, who ran passed the last defender and planted the ball into the net. A very great finish. 1-0 to Churt.
Churt were still on top but Beacon Hill scored a goal in the 13th minute, which ricocheted off the crossbar and around but eventually went in the net. 1-1.
The game stayed close till half time, with both teams having some chances.
Both Emily and Tallula were struggling and Emily came off after 37 minutes.
In the second half, Emily went back into midfield and Churt took up a strong attack with Hannah Watts and Ella Farrier up front, the first time we'd seen these three together since November.
And those 10 minutes, Emily continually thread the ball through the gaps and Hannah and Ella came close to getting through. Unfortunately to no avail, and then Beacon Hill went up the other end and scored against the run of the play. 1-2.
Emily had to come off and rest as it was her first game back since concussion in November. Beacon Hill started to get on top and scored a third on the 57th minute. 1-3.
Soon after Tallula had to come off, so Churt were down to 10 players. Hannah watts was moved to defence to cover, and Churt moved to a three person defence, moving Amy O'donnel upfront to test the Beacon Hill defence.
Shortly after Amy Thompson also had to come off, so Churt had 9 players on the pitch, but still managed to hold out. Slowly Amy was able to come back on, as was Emily, and then later Tallula for Emily. It was just the walking wounded and Beacon Hill scored a 4th,
The game ended 4-1 To Beacon Hill and they were the better team on the day, although Churt really didnt have the full team out there and simply couldnt compete today, much like the most of the season.
The season ends with the need to regroup, recruit and build the numbers for the next season as the team moves to the Under 18's. Hopefully Maisie Lambert, Emily Watts and Tia Eldridge will be back and fit, unfortunately recent ACL injury, Ruby Clarke will probably be missing most of the season!
Now for some rest and some GCSE'S!
